I found my first intuitive healer not long after I moved to Vancouver. I was dealing with some complicated health issues that I felt needed more of an open mind and a gentle hand than the drop-in clinics were providing. As a student of western herbalism, a yoga teacher and proponent of all things personal development, I needed more. I had tried to find a family doctor using the list from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, but every time I selected one, I found myself frustrated, sitting idly in waiting rooms feeling ignored for hours. I also felt at times that the medical professionals I was dealing with had neither the time for me or the care and concern that I felt was necessary for what I was going through.
This post is not an opportunity for me to vent about the current healthcare system in BC or Canada, but rather a reflection on the type of patient/doctor relationship that is possible. For some of us, the current system more than meets our needs. For those with relatively healthy lifestyles who are satisfied with the Western Allopathic model, having to visit a drop-in clinic or their family doctor is a rarity. But for those of us that are seeking a preventative and healing relationship with our doctors, rather than a treatment-based approach, our current system may leave us wanting more.
Luckily, my prayers were answered while working for Bikram Yoga Vancouver when some of my co-workers directed me to a clinic right down the street from our office. That was when I was introduced to what is now called The Mind-Body Center and I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Divi Chandna and the wonderful team of healers she had working with her. I knew from the moment I entered the center that things operated a little differently here, from the quiet relaxed atmosphere, the breathtaking views of the North Shore Mountains out the windows to the deck of Doreen Virtue Angel Cards on the desk in her office, I was sure I had found a medical practitioner that I could trust to take the very best care of me on my journey and be a guide in helping me heal myself.
What is an Intuitive Healer?
Where an Allopathic doctor simply assesses your physical and sometimes mental symptoms, an intuitive healer goes beyond this by addressing their own intuition surrounding the issue and working with a patient’s spiritual and energetic symptoms as well. On it’s own, medical intuitive healing is a powerful practice, but working in concert with an Allopathic practice means that the healer can address a patient on all levels. This is truly comprehensive healing.
From Dr. Chandna’s Website:
In Dr. Divi’s sessions, she helps you to unwind your illnesses by looking at your body, health and life as an onion. The illness is visualized with thick outer layers like the onion. With Dr. Divi’s help and guidance, you will be taught how to remove the layers and get to know the person underneath, which is the healthier version of yourself underneath it all!
What’s special about Vancouver’s Mind-Body Center?
Dr. Divi Chadna’s practice offers a variety of services that go above and beyond what you’ll find in a regular medical office. Her clinic offers an array of packages and services, designed to address the individual needs of the patient. Depending on the package, clients will not only benefit from Dr. Divi’s skills as an Allopathic doctor and Intuitive Healer, but also:
- Longer appointments (12-15 minutes as opposed to the 8-10 minutes)
- Weekly Training Sessions (in-person, teleseminar, audio recording)
- Perhaps the most powerful part of The Mind-Body Center, these 1.5 hour weekly sessions will help you educate and empower yourself through workshops that focus wellness and the connection between mind and body.
- Full-Weekend Immersions (in-person, teleseminar, audio recording)
- Being a part of The Mind-Body Center means that you will be able to take part in full-weekend immersion workshops that will allow you to develop a deeper relationship with yourself and ignite your inner healer!
Dr Divi’s process is not only genuine and highly effective, but the most exceptionally comprehensive approach to healing that I’ve had the benefit of receiving. As an allopathic doctor with more than 20 years of experience, a mind-body medicine coach, yoga teacher, meditation teacher and certified medical intuitive, she has the tools to offer her patients the type of healing that suits them best. I would highly recommend her clinic to anyone looking for an alternative approach to healing the mind and body, anyone wanting to educate themselves on how to live a more healthy balanced life and anyone who is dissatisfied with the way the current model of health addresses our needs.
Disclaimer: Dr. Divi Chandna is my family doctor. Although I receive complementary services with her, the opinions expressed in this blog post are my own.
